I made a bunch of bracelets this past week, check them out! A few are made out of twine and hex nuts from Do It Best, one out of an old t-shirt, and two are made with beads and leather cord from Michaels.

I have a special place in my heart for manifestos, and one that I’ve recently discovered is The Holstee Manifesto. I think their vision is clear and inspiring. Beyond selling products and design, they are selling a whole lifestyle. I’ve been in a bit of a stagnant place in life and reading stories about people, manifestos like this, and talking to friends with an optimistic lookout has helped. Surround yourself with people who believe in you and who inspire you. And be a friend that you’d want. This is your life, live it with passion as often as you can.

Big Brothers Big Sisters and Forever 21 shirts

Big Brothers Big Sisters and Forever 21 recently teamed up to create some shirts! $1 of each shirt sold goes to BBBS. I’m liking the “GO BIG” shirt for its double entendre and will have to pick one up.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is an awesome program and a great way to make an impact on someone. The program matches up kids with difficult backgrounds (and sometimes behavioral problems) with adults who can offer a different perspective. The goal of the program is to create a positive adult influence in a child’s life. Thinking about my childhood, I definitely enjoyed moments when older people took an interest in me. I remember my incredibly kind third grade teacher once asked me and another girl to help her pack up our classroom after school in preparation of her maternity leave. It was a small gesture, but I still remember feeling special taking home a stuffed koala! So definitely consider becoming involved with the program. All you need is a few hours of time, a willingness to run around a playground, and an open mind for all the knowledge a kid can offer such as how eating eggs can spur breast growth and how to eat a salad without utensils.
